THE HISTORY OF GELATO MIO
Gelato Mio was born from the passion for Ice Cream of Carlo & Simone, a husband and wife team coming from sunny Italy. Since they moved to London for work in 2006, they have been trying to find a store offering the Italian ice cream parlour experience: great gelato served in a relaxing and trendy setting.
That’s why, at the end of 2007, they decided to set up their own ice cream parlour in London. They spent the winter travelling across Italy to find inspiration and putting together a team of ice cream experts able to recreate the Italian ice cream parlour experience in the UK.
Once back in London, Carlo and Simone spent the spring working hard on finding the perfect location and defining the last details. Everything fell in place when they found a lovely shop in Holland Park Avenue that had everything they had been looking for.
Gelato Mio triumphantly opened its doors to business in July 2008. Opening day celebrations included giving away 100 litres of ice cream to local residents. Ever since, on warm days long queues are a usual sight in Holland Park Avenue.

Following the success of the Holland Park store and heeding to the requests of many of their customers who travelled across London to get their gelato, Carlo and Simone decided to open a second store in the Centre of the city. So, towards the end of the summer, Gelato Mio Villiers Street was born.
Philosophy
We believe that it doesn’t matter whether you are based in Milan, New York or London: everyone deserves to be able to enjoy a great Italian ice cream made as it should be.
Here at Gelato Mio we have 3 principles guiding everything that we do:
Be Natural – we make all our products in the most natural way possible
Be Nice – we will always offer you a smile whenever you enter our shops and we’ll do everything we can to satisfy any request you might have
Be Good – we try hard to offer you the best Italian gelato you can find in London, every time
Mission
Our mission is to bring the real Italian gelato to the UK and teach our customers how to fully appreciate it. As a matter of fact, we believe that Italian gelato is like a good wine: every batch of it is lovingly created by our ice cream masters and its flavours are deep and complex, varying with the season and the weather.
Our ultimate goal is to guide our customers through this process of ice cream (re)discovery.
